The declaration of the head of the Delhi Congress came a day after the head of the AAP, Arvind Kejriwal, said his party was tired of trying to convince Congress of an alliance.
Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit said on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party had never approached her team for an alliance in the national capital for the Lok Sabha elections, which are expected to be held this summer.
His statement came a day after Delhi’s prime minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said he was tired of trying to convince Congress of an alliance.
“When did the AAP come to us?” He asked, according to NDTV. “If Arvind [Kejriwal] wants an alliance, then he should talk directly to me. I want to ask Arvind Kejriwal on what basis he made that statement. Because he has never talked about this with us. “We never had conversations.”

“We are tired of convincing Congress to form an alliance, but they do not understand it,” Kejriwal had said at a public rally in Delhi on Wednesday. “If there is an alliance, the BJP will lose the seven Lok Sabha seats it currently has in Delhi.”
Kejriwal had said that to ensure that votes are not divided among the candidates of several parties, there should only be one candidate against each person competing for the Bharatiya Janata Party. “I do not know what they have in mind,” Kejriwal said of an alliance with Congress and claimed he was “weakening” the AAP in Delhi. Last week, Kejriwal had said that Congress had “more or less” ruled out an alliance with his party for the Lok Sabha polls.
However, after Dikshit’s comment, the leader of the AAP, Raghav Chaddha, said: “It seems that Sheila Dikshit has no idea what is happening in her own party and Rahul Gandhi does not talk to Sheilaji.”
