Beno Gutenberg was first Suspicious
In the 40s, it was noticed by American scientist Beno Gutenberg. During a study, he suspected that the water in the sea was rising. To confirm his suspicion, Gutenberg studied the data of the last 100 years and his suspicion turned into belief. Seawater is increasing continuously due to the melting of polar ice. In the nineties, NASA also confirmed this. Since then, the discussion on other threats of global warming intensified. Along with this the fear also increased that soon the islands would start submerging.
Water level rising every year
Palau, an island country located in the Pacific Ocean at number three, is also an island standing on the verge of drowning in the sea. The Palau National Weather Service Office and the Pacific Climate Change Service Program have together concluded that since 1993, the seawater here has been rising by about 0.35 inches every year. If the heat rises this fast, then the water level will start rising at the rate of 24 meters annually. This could happen by 2090. After this, the island will not be saved in any way.
Micronesia island facing the sea
The country located in the Pacific Ocean at number four is the name of the Federated States of Micronesia. This island group, which is about 2500 miles from Hawaii, is made up of 607 islands. Only 270 square miles of it is of land, which includes mountains and beaches. Due to the rise in sea level, many of its islands were rapidly submerged in water. While the size of many islands is continuously getting smaller. This study has appeared in the Journal of Coastal Conservation.
Beautiful island Fiji is also on the verge of drowning
A large number of Indians also live on the island of Fiji, made up of beautiful beaches. This island located in the South Pacific Ocean is also in danger because of us. Melting polar ice will also take it under the sea in the next few decades. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has the same say. According to the World Bank, in the last few decades, many villages on the banks talked about drowning up to 15-20 meters.
Riposolomon Island is sinking in water
According to a report in Reader’s Digest, Riposolomon Island is made up of about 1000 islands in the South Pacific Ocean that are submerging in water. According to this, since the year 1993, that is, since the beginning of monitoring it, the water around the archipelago has been rising by 8 mm every year. According to the environmental and science journal Environmental Research Letters, 5 of its islands have been submerged.
The Maldives can be covered in water by 2100
The Maldives, which are located in the north of South Asia, is also under threat. This island, which is called a paradise for tourists, is also called the pride of the Indian Ocean. It is considered to be the first choice for tourists. Many Bollywood celebrities have come here recently for a holiday. But many institutions, including the World Bank, fear that by the year 2100, with the rapid increase in seawater, this island country may be submerged in water.
