Washington: America is still struggling badly with the coronovirus epidemic. The total number of cases of the disease in the country has crossed 22 million, while more than 372,000 people have died. Johns Hopkins University gave this information. The University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update on Sunday morning that the total number of cases and deaths in the country has risen to 22,110,203 and 372,152 respectively.
The United States is the country most affected by the epidemic, with more than 24 percent of global cases and 19 percent of global deaths. According to CSSE data, 2,649,119 cases were reported in California on Saturday, while 1,943,625 cases were reported in Texas and 1,464,697 in Florida.
Both New York and Illinois states registered more than 1 million cases. Other states with more than 550,000 cases include Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, Michigan, and Indiana.
Total Covid-19 cases in the US reached 2 crore on 1 January, and since then the number has increased by 1 million every four days. In terms of deaths, 39,334 people have died in New York as of Saturday, the highest in terms of deaths compared to other US states.
