The Kejriwal government is once again in the headlines, and this time also for the wrong reasons. Janab has also had to pay salary to the staff, and now Sir is demanding special financial assistance of Rs 5000 crores from the Central Government –
According to the press conference conducted by Manish Sisodia, “Due to corona and then lockdown, Delhi government’s tax collection is running down by about 85%. So this help is needed. Delhi has not received any funds from the Disaster Relief Fund released by the Center to other states.
But wait, how did this problem arise? This is the same Delhi government, which was claiming the budget surplus at the beginning of the year? So what happened now that the Kejriwal government does not even have money to pay?
If you remember, in early 2020, the Kejriwal government gave an example of this budget surplus to justify its freebies. Citing the 2017-18 report of the CAG, the Kejriwal government said that they had received a trade surplus of Rs 113 crore in 2017-18.
So is there nothing left with the Kejriwal government now? If you look at the data, then the situation is pointing in something similar. According to budget analysis, the government’s fiscal deficit was estimated to be around 700 crores in the previous year, i.e. 2019, and this figure will be even more. Now in such a situation, it is reasonable to know where the rest of the money went.
But Kejriwal had also taken two important decisions to avoid the economic consequences of the Wuhan virus. One was to impose a special corona tax of up to 70 percent on the sale of liquor, and the second was to increase the cess on petrol by more than 30 percent. If even after this, the Kejriwal government does not have the money to pay salaries to government employees, then the question will arise – where did all the money disappear? Either Kejriwal was lying on the trade surplus or he is now lying.
The opposition did not take Kejriwal’s peculiar demand seriously and targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government. Speaking to a private channel, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri said that the central government is helping the people of the rest of the country as well as the people of Delhi. He claimed, “1500, 1500 rupees have been transferred to people’s accounts. The budget of Delhi Government is now 65 thousand crores, whereas earlier in Sheila Dixit’s time it was 39 thousand crores. Earlier this money was spent on advertising and now help is being sought.
Bidhuri further asks, “In other states also, if death occurs due to mob lynching or any such reason, Kejriwal pays a tax of Rs 1 crore. The money from Delhi is spent outside to do such politics ”.
Apart from Ramesh Bidhuri, poet Kumar Vishwas also hit out at the Kejriwal government by referring to advertisements. He wrote, “Lakhs-crores of election-revs, thousands of crores of taxpayers in newspapers, spending 4-4 pages on advertisements and channels every 10 minutes showing face, making entire Delhi a well of death, now calling Swaraj-Shiromani They do not have the money to pay salaries to the doctors fighting Corona.
To be fair, the Kejriwal government has once again exposed how eager it is to actually rejuvenate Delhi. The way people are claiming insolvency even after earning a lot of revenue and seeking government help
