Rohit Sharma’s innings as the opening batsman in the first Test against South Africa has left his mark not only in India but also outside it. Rohit scored 176 runs as soon as he landed as opener for the first time in the test. He along with fellow Mayank Agarwal added 317 runs for the first wicket. This is Team India’s biggest partnership against South Africa. Before this, Rohit was playing in the middle order, but there was no success except for his debut series. In such a situation, now they have a chance in the opening. The innings of Rohit, the new incarnation, also won the heart of Shoaib Akhtar, the storm bowler of Pakistan.

Shoaib Akhtar said in his YouTube show that he was aware of Rohit’s ability in 2013 itself. After scoring a century against South Africa, Akhtar asked Rohit to start putting G in front of his name so that his name would become Great Rohit Sharma. Akhtar said that Rohit Sharma used to be tied in Test cricket and did not play openly like ODIs and T20s, due to which he could not succeed.

Shoaib Akhtar gave the example of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith and said that Rohit should believe in his talent and skills like him and play without fear. Smith and Kohli have been successful in Test cricket with the proper use of reckless attitude and talent.
Akhtar finally said that in the coming time when Team India will face England, Rohit will score 1000 runs in it and will leave behind Smith’s record of 774 runs in recent Ashes series.
Rohit started in ODIs and T20s also from middle order but after scoring an opener, he scored fiercely. They did not get a chance in the test, as Team India had enough openers in the form of KL Rahul, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul. But these three have failed in the last one year.
In such a situation, Team India had to give opportunity to young names like Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw. Shaw is also out now, in such a situation, Rohit’s fortune opened up and he kind of confirmed his place.
