Pliant Media Jubilant on the Arrival of a Non-achiever Dynast in the Politics

Social media is at the height of the fall of Priyanka Gandhi in politics after the Congress party declared the appointment of Priyanka Vadra as General Secretary for East UP. The appointment comes days after the head of SP Akhilesh Yadav and the head of BSP, Mayawati, declared their position to fight together in the general elections, leaving Congress outside the alliance.

The formal entry of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra into politics has provoked euphoria among some of the media personalities. Journalists believe that the participation of Priyanka Vadra in the next general election will be essential, especially in the state of Uttar Pradesh, which is considered the most important state to claim a participation in the government in the center.

As the news of Priyanka Vadra’s appointment came to an end, some media people could not hide their enthusiasm for its elevation and went to Twitter to express their exaltation for Vadra’s entry into politics. These are the reactions of some of the “journalists” on Priyanka’s anointing as Secretary General of East UP who often pose as “neutral” media people.

It should be mentioned here that Priyanka Vadra has been a rookie in the political arena. She has no experience in politics, except for some rallies she occasionally does during the election season. Therefore, his promotion to the UP East General Secretary only reinforces the policy of the Congress party to perpetuate the dynasty’s policy instead of adopting meritocracy by designating someone who deserves the position. On the other hand, the noncritical adulation of the media by her not only reveals her servility to the Gandhi family, but also exposes her duplicity in the defense of excellence.

The media questioned the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as dean of FTII, claiming that his credentials are not valuable enough to be appointed head of the sacred institution. The same group of people expressed strong reservations about the anointing of Yogi Adityanath as the chief minister of the UP who was an MP 5 times before being appointed CM. However, they have no qualms about endorsing and glorifying Priyanka, which is basically a “non-achievement” and has entered politics only because of the name of her family.

It is also surprising to mention the colorful history of Priyanka Vadra. There have been serious accusations against her and her husband Robert Vadra. In April 2017, it was alleged that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had purchased 5 acres of agricultural land in the village of Amipur in the Faridabad district of Haryana for Rs 15 lakh in 2006 and then sold the same land to the original owner in 2010 at a price of Rs. 80 lakh. In 2010, she was accused of building a house on land that she allegedly acquired illegally in Shimla. Therefore, it is ironic to observe the hypocrisy shown by the people in the media who now rejoice at the appointment of Priyanka Vadra and do not highlight the accusations made against him.

Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, continues to talk about Anil Ambani’s inexperience in building defense teams as a reason to protest against his company’s participation in Rafale’s compensation contract, but approves that a member of the Gandhi family be appointed to a high-level position without him Having the necessary credentials to justify the appointment. This dazzling irony is an archetypal Congress that believes in the eternalization of dynasty politics and eluding distinction.
