800+ Adult Websites Banned – Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, BSNL Will Block Adult Content

In the last 48 hours, social networks were filled with talks about adult websites. Reddit users, Twitter and other leading social media platforms had complained that they could not open their favorite adult websites.

Now, it has been confirmed that more than 800 websites for adults will be banned in India, and no telecommunications operator or ISP will be allowed to access them.

At the time of writing this document, only Reliance Jio had implemented this order and had already banned all adult websites. Some users are talking about switching to Airtel and Vodafone to access that adult content, but soon, they will also ban these websites.

Why are adult websites being banned?

Last month, the High Court of Uttrakhand had ordered the government. to make sure that 857 websites with adult content are prohibited. The Bank had ordered: “Unlimited access to these adult sites should be blocked / restrained to avoid adverse influence on the impressionable minds of children.”

In its ruling, the Bank had said that if an ISP did not ban adult content, their license would be taken away and they would be asked to suspend their services.

According to Section 25 of the Information Technology Act of 2000, the license of the ISPs may be terminated.

Government is implementing that order now

Since that order was approved, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) had been investigating this problem, and found that of the 857 adult websites mentioned, 30 portals had no objectionable content.

Therefore, these websites have been “saved” and the rest of the 827 websites have been blocked. The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) has issued directives to the Telecom Department to execute this order.

In an order issued to the Telecommunications Department, MeiTY said: “… all internet service graduates are instructed to take the necessary steps immediately to block 827 websites according to Meity’s instructions and for compliance with the Order of the Honorable Superior Court, ”

Also in China, adult websites have been completely banned. Last month, 4000 websites with adult content were banned throughout China. In total, more than 22,000 websites have faced a ban in China on this issue.

According to a recent report by Citizen Lab, based at the University of Toronto, together with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, India is among the 10 best nations to block content on the Internet.

Also in 2013, such a ban was announced, and it was also partially implemented, but soon, the adult websites were again accessible.
