IKEA to invest 3,000 crore for three new centres in India

The Swedish furniture and home accessories company, IKEA, plans to invest close to 3 billion rupees over the next three years to open three compliance centers (packaging warehouses) in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.

The company would open the centers as an omnichanneling brand with large IKEA stores, stores in the city center and online presence, said on Friday to the vice president of administration of IKEA India Patrik Antony.

IKEA is scheduled to open its second store in Mumbai later this year and will hold an innovative ceremony on October 11 in Bengaluru, he said.

The next store would be in Delhi, he said.

By 2025, there would be more than 25 stores in cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Chennai and Calcutta with both online and offline approaches, he said.
