China floods: 3 Million People affected, Economic Loss Closing on $200 Million, Many Died

Flooding in China : China receives heavy rains every year, due to which there is a lot of loss of life and property. But due to continuous urbanization and climate change, this time the rains have taken an even more destructive form. People trapped in floods, overturned cars and scary scenes of China’s roads are being seen a lot on social media for the last three days. A video from China’s Jinhua News shows people trapped in water up to their necks inside the subway lines of Zhengzhou city. The number of these people is about 12 million, who are waiting for the rescue workers to arrive.

Xinhua news agency reported direct economic losses of 1.22 billion yuan ($189 million) until Thursday.

Torrential rain has affected about 3 million people in Henan province, severely impacting the capital city, Zhengzhou, where 12 people died in a flooded subway train carriage on Tuesday.

376,000 RESIDENTS RELOCATED

A total of 376,000 residents have been relocated to safe places, said the provincial emergency management department.
