If anyone is protecting India’s doctors from having corona on a large scale, then it is HCQ. This is now clear in a new study of ICMR. In this study, it has been found that the use of four or more doses of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine prophylaxis (HCQ) can reduce the risk of coronavirus infection in health workers.
On Sunday, 80% of healthcare workers at six or more prophylactic doses of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) were not infected with coronaviruses, according to the results of a study published online in the ICMR’s Indian Journal of Medical Research on Sunday.
This has once again proved the usefulness of HCQ.
Let the WHO suggest a temporary ban on the clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine just a few days ago, but still, India continued to both test and use the drug. The WHO made this decision after a study published in the online medical journal Lancet found that the use of HCQ medication increased the risk of death by 34 percent and severe heart arrhythmias by 137 percent. However, now many questions have been raised on these reports. More than a hundred scientists and physicians have raised doubts about the authenticity of the hospital’s database.
Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of The Lancet and other researchers in an open letter to the authors of the research, calls for details of the data and calls for the study to be independently verified by the WHO or another institution. Australia’s infectious disease researchers also doubted the study.
On the one hand, the WHO has been running an agenda against HCQ in association with several institutions, whereas now the ICMR of India has stamped the utility of HCQ. India has been instructing its health workers to use HCQ to prevent corona from the beginning. A few days ago, non-healthcare frontline workers were also added to the list of HCQ users. The ICMR then categorically stated, ‘Indian researchers have not found any major side-effects of HCQ and should continue to be used as a defense against COVID-19.’
Ever since Corona has started, the WHO has kept the entire world in the dark, the brunt of which all countries have suffered today. Still, the WHO is not deterring from the same attitude. Today, if other countries of the world had given their doctors and nurses permission to use HCQ like India, many health workers could have been saved from the corona. But the WHO, along with the international media, doubted HCQ from the beginning, leading to the prohibition of HCQ intake by many countries. According to a report published on March 24, by that time 5,400 out of Spain’s 40,000 coronavirus cases, or about 14 percent, were professional physicians. In Italy, the figure was 8.3 percent. The rest of the European countries had the same condition.
Today there is 2 lakh 86 a thousand cases in Spain and 2 lakh 32 thousand in Italy. From this, you can guess at what level the corona will spread among doctors and health workers.
But India kept giving this medicine to its health workers, due to which a very small number of health workers have been found infected with corona here. It can be said that on one hand, countries around the world could not protect their health workers from corona infection, but India’s HCQ did it. It is now clear in this new clinical study of ICMR that the consumption of four or more doses of HCQ can reduce the risk of infecting the coronavirus (COVID-19) in health workers.
The National Task Force for COVID-19 in India took cognizance of this study and recommended the use of HCQ as prophylaxis against coronavirus infection among a group of asymptomatic people.
