Kolkata: Voting for the by-election is going on in Karimpur assembly constituency of West Bengal on Monday. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Jayaprakash Majumdar was allegedly slapped, kicked, punched and thrown into a roadside bush by Trinamool Congress workers. However, the Trinamool has denied involvement of its workers in the incident.

The incident took place outside the Khiaghat Islampur Primary School booth under Pipalkhola police station in Nadia district when Majumdar reached out after receiving information that a house was located in a large quantity for a ‘suspicious’ party about 10 meters from the booth. Food is being cooked.
Majumdar is the current state BJP vice president. He found 10-11 people busy in cooking and these people claimed that the food was being prepared for the polling officers. However, the authorities denied any such information.
Majumdar informed the administration officials and election officials after coming out of the booth.
But when he was standing on the road, some people surrounded him and started protesting.
Then the protesters grabbed his collar and pushed him into the bush. As Majumdar tried to stand up, another protestor kicked and pushed him further into the bush.
Central forces personnel rescued them and drove away the protesters by charging sticks.
