Mumbai : IKEA, the leading Swedish company that deals in home furnishing and furniture, has opened its online store in Mumbai. The company will have 7,500 products available in this store. The company has said that it aims to reach 100 million customers in the next three years. Steps taken for this include online stores.
Ikea India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Betzel said that India’s retail sector has witnessed unprecedented expansion due to increasing urbanization and change in customer behavior. IKEA is also changing itself to become India’s main partner in this journey.
Mumbai is among the first few markets around the world where we are making this change. The price of 1,000 products in the online store is less than 200 rupees. The company has said that there is no difference in the price of its products on both offline and online forums in India.
IKEA has over 55 suppliers in India and employs 45,000 people directly. Four million people are involved in its supply chain. The company has said that its first store in Hyderabad has so far reached over 3 million customers.
