Election Commission Surveillance Squad Seized 146 kg of Gold Bars in Tamil Nadu

On Friday (April 5, 2019), the Election Commission’s monitoring team seized 146 kilogram gold bricks in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. It has been recovered without valid documents from a van near Sonali Puliculam. If the news is to be believed, the authorities are still trying to gather more information in this matter.

Due to the Lok Sabha elections being close, these days, there is considerable activity in the Election Commission. Even before this incident, the EC has seized money, liquor and narcotics during the checking. Recall that just days before, the Flying Squad of the Election Commission seized cash of `2.10 crore during the vehicle checking. These money were recovered from the former secretary of the VCK party.

At the same time, on Tuesday (April 2, 2019), during the checking in Tamilnadu’s Ramanathapuram, the Flying Squad seized Rs 6,65,000 from the vehicle. In this case, no valid documents were presented for these money.

This is not the first case of heavy gold catching. On April 1, 132 kilograms of gold was seized from a flying van in Tamil Nadu with a van which was close to 40 million rupees. However, later it was informed by the authorities that it was a gold jewelery firm of Son T Nagar. Apart from this, the incidents of seizure of gold and millions of rupees in other states like Maharashtra and Hyderabad are also coming up.

DRI had checked 5 containers kept on Indian terminal CFS on April 3 in Nhava Sheva of Raigarh. In this, the DRI got recovered from 19 kg of 162 gold bricks worth Rs 5.54 crore. The importer has been arrested. This goods was here from Dubai.

Apart from this, the Hyderabad Police also seized Rs 9.45 crore worth of money, 9.15 lakh gold, 135 liters of liquor, singles and 11 bags filled with foxes.
