Facebook says that ‘the activities being played’ on these pages have been found to be unauthorized. Such action has been rarely taken on pages linked to a main political party on behalf of Facebook in the country.

Facebook said that on this page many posts were filled with criticisms of local news and ruling party leader Narendra Modi. Nathaniel Glesher, head of Facebook’s cyber security policies, said, “Active users have hidden their identity on this page, and in our review we found that these accounts belonged to people belonging to the Congress of IT cell.”

He further said that Facebook has removed all these accounts from their platform on the basis of their activities. India will be voting in seven phases from April 11 to 19, and results will be on May 23.
