How to Make Money on Youtube

YouTube is much more than just watching trend videos worthy of memes. The video sharing website is also a platform for creators to share their own original content. Once these creators create a sufficiently large and loyal following for their content, YouTube allows them to monetize their videos. Creators essentially earn money from premium YouTube subscribers who watch their content and allow YouTube to run ads during their videos.

If you are a creator (or are simply thinking of becoming one), read on to learn more about how to make money on YouTube.

How does YouTube pay its Content Creators?

YouTube pays its content creators through its YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

Being a member of this program is what allows you, as a creator, to monetize your videos by publishing and receiving income from YouTube Premium subscribers who watch your videos.

To become a member, you must go through an application process in which you must meet certain eligibility and content requirements:

  1. You will need an approved Google AdSense account.
  2. Your channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers.
  3. Your channel must have more than 4,000 hours of playback during the last year. The viewing hours (or the total viewing time) is the total amount of time that people have actually spent watching their videos.
  4. Your content must match the YPP policies, which include the YouTube Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Google AdSense policies. To monetize your videos, your content must follow the Advertiser-friendly content guidelines
  5. The YouTube Partner Program must be available in your country.

Once you meet these requirements and are accepted into the partner program, you will be able to monetize your videos. You will also have access to the YouTube creator support team, which will help you deal with creator issues, such as copyright or related to Community Guidelines.

Once they Accept you, Dont Get Kicked Out

While all content posted on YouTube must follow the YouTube Community Guidelines, this is especially important for those who want to monetize their content, since they may lose access to the YouTube Partner Program if their videos violate those guidelines.

Important : It’s important your channel’s content follows YouTube’s Community Guidelines. A more detailed description of them can be found here.

Failure to comply with YouTube’s fair use and copyright requirements will also result in the loss of access to YPP. With respect to copyright and fair use, YouTube requires that you have all rights to the content you post and intend to monetize. If, for any reason, your videos contain third-party content, the use of that content must be covered under fair use.

Make the Most of YouTube’s Partner Program

To optimize your use of the YouTube Partner Program, your best bet is to start by following the Advertiser-friendly content guidelines.

The purpose of the content guidelines for advertisers is to help you create the type of content that YouTube advertisers want to publish.

These guidelines cover the following topics when it comes to creating content that is friendly to the advertiser:

Tips to create the type of content advertisers would want.
Instructions on how to turn off ads for individual videos that are not friendly to advertisers.
A list of content types that are not considered friendly to the advertiser.
