After iOS and Android, the Facebook messaging application WhatsApp is now implementing the “Picture in Picture (PiP)” mode for web users that will allow them to watch videos within a chat window, without opening third-party pages or applications.
The feature comes as part of the 0.3.2041 update along with new improvements and security fixes, WABetaInfo reported on Sunday, a fan site that tracks WhatsApp.
In the previous web version, the messaging application launched the PiP function to watch shared videos.
Now, WhatsApp has finally presented a new update for the web platform, which offers the possibility of using the PiP function for videos hosted on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Streamable, the report adds.
To force the update, WhatsApp web users must clear their browser cache and restart the browser.
The PiP function was implemented in January 2018 and December 2018 for iOS and Android users respectively.
The company owned by Facebook has more than 200 million monthly active users in India and is one of the most popular mobile applications worldwide.
