Some people say that motivation is literally the only thing you need to be successful. They say that it is the crucial element to establish and achieve objectives. But is that really true? It produces a large amount of online content whose goal is to motivate and take it to a massive action with the hope that eventually it will succeed.
While I believe that the intentions behind such claims are noble, most people totally misunderstand how motivation works. More importantly, they are not aware of the true determining factor behind an individual’s success.
Let me begin by disproving a colossal myth about motivation: motivation equals success. This is not true. Here is the truth: motivation is not as successful for you. The only thing that amounts to success for you is you and the way you develop and reorganize your mind.
You can spend as much time as you want, watching and investing your money in courses or motivational seminars, but there is no guarantee that your life will be transformed. It’s a great marketing line, but it’s certainly not the way success works.
Yes, your guru knows how to press the correct buttons. Every time he or she talks and shares a story of riches, you feel that you rise from the desperation that threatens your very existence. However, just writing down those goals or visualizing success is not how the results are created in your life. If you have been an avid personal development student, this has probably started to sink.
So, am I saying you should abandon your current desire to see Abraham Hicks and Tony Robbins or those well designed Goalcast videos? Hell no. These videos and seminars cheer you up and keep your fire going. Is awesome! There is absolutely nothing wrong with strategically set aside time to feed regularly the content that lifts your spirits. The problem is when that is all you do.
“Don’t think, just do.” – Horace
As it happens, most people are stuck at this point, so they do not see results even after reading the books, watching the videos and attending the seminars. Sure, some things can change here and there, but a real and permanent transformation: that’s something that people are not experiencing enough. And here’s why.
Most people are still missing this crucial ingredient that is fundamental to both permanent transformation and success: true conviction and the formation of habits. In other words, they lack the belief that forms the habit that results in success.
Your results are determined by your actions. The actions you take are determined by your behavior, which is directly influenced by your habits and, as we all know, your habits are not formed through intellectual reasoning or applied force. In fact, your habits and beliefs can not even be formed instantaneously.
In other words, no matter what anyone else says or does, if your creative mind and power are not impressed with that idea of wealth and success, no physical result will appear.
This is perhaps one of the things that the most motivating gurus do not emphasize enough. If they did, we would see more people investing in doing “internal work” instead of going through Instagram sources hungry for another motivating quote.
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” – Pele
Improve the creation of habits that drive actions that lead to success; Develop deep beliefs that serve you and constantly impress your creative power with the right feeling and the end result will inevitably be successful.
Everything you find externally is, at best, a clue and, at worst, a distraction, but definitely not the “magic ingredient”. .
So take an honest auto-inventory right now. How much time do you spend each day feeding your motivational hunger and how much real internal work and habit formation do you invest?
What is one of the goals you would like to achieve before the end of the year?
