A Xiaomi Mi A1 Reportedly Exploded While It Was Charging Next To Its Sleeping Owner

According to a report from the Chinese website GizmoChina, there is an isolated event in which the battery of a Xiaomi device exploded while charging.

The most notable battery explosions can be credited in the Galaxy Note 7 by Samsung, because Samsung had to remove the device from the world market.

There have been isolated cases of other smart phone companies that meet the safe destination due to defective batteries.

According to a Weibo publication, the incident occurred when the phone was plugged in to charge near the owner while he slept. According to reports, the smartphone caught fire but did not cause any harm to the owner, since it was in a protective case. The case was able to subdue the effect of the explosion that prevented damage.

As it is the Xiaomi Mi A1, we are not completely sure of where the incident happened, since it was launched globally by the Chinese company. The Mi A1 was a great success in India and motivated the eventual launch of the Mi A2.

Since this is an isolated event and the first for the model, it is fair to say that this is a unique case and is not prominent for all MI A1 devices.

The explosion of a battery can be attributed to several factors, such as a defective battery, a defective charging cable or adapter, third-party cables and others.

As of now, it is not known if the user was using a third-party cable or had erratic load patterns that could have caused the explosion. According to reports, the affected user said that the phone has been in use for 8 months and has reported the problem with Xiaomi customer service.

The Mi A1 was launched some time ago and sports a 5.5-inch LCD screen. It comes with Android One out of the box and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 chipset. The Mi A1 comes in two configurations, that is, with 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
