Which Government Jobs Should Candidates Above 40 Consider?

Students over the age of 40 need to target openings in which age, educational qualification, and experience are relevant to the recruitment criteria.

  • Teaching openings: Look up recruitment requirements of Government schools, colleges, and universities separately.

  • Departmental and technical openings: Experiences may get openings in those places where special qualifications or experiences are required.

  • Contractual Government openings: Some openings have separate eligibility requirements, but contractual jobs doesn’t necessarily qualify for increased age requirements.

  2. Determine your category and domicile status: In UP and Rajasthan, relaxations are available only to the permanent residents of the state.

  3. Look for temporary relaxations: In Telangana, there is an example of one year period of benefit.

  4. Prepare for Group B, C and D jobs: Higher upper age limit of 44-45 years in West Bengal for such positions makes it easier to get selected in comparison to the administrative posts.

  5. Look for opportunities of teaching, PSU and contractual employment. They will provide flexibility in eligibility criteria.

  6. Use official sources: State Public Service Commission’s website, Employment News and the notification issued by the Finance or General Administration Department should be the source of information. Do not consider coaching websites and blogs because they may give you outdated information.
