What Is LASIK Surgery?
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct certain refractive errors. The aim is to improve unaided vision and reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses in appropriately selected patients.
However, LASIK is not suitable for everyone. A detailed LASIK work-up is important before deciding whether laser vision correction is appropriate.
Factors such as eye power, corneal thickness and shape, tear-film health, age, previous eye conditions and overall ocular health may be considered during the evaluation.
