Beijing: The first case of the human being infected with the H10N3 strain of bird flu has been reported in Jiangsu, the eastern province of China. The National Health Commission of China gave this information on Tuesday. State-run CGNT TV reported that the 41-year-old patient from Zhenjiang city is stable and may be discharged from the hospital. The man, a resident of Zhenjiang, was admitted to the hospital on April 28 after showing fever and other symptoms. The man was diagnosed with the H10N3 avian influenza virus on 28 May, although he did not provide any information about how the person became infected with the virus.

Health authorities did not give much importance to this infection, saying that it is a sporadic case of virus transmission from chicken to humans and the risk of spreading the epidemic is very low. The National Health Commission said in a statement that the patient was found infected with the H10N3 virus on May 28. The commission did not say how the person got infected. He told that before this case of H10N3 infection in humans has not been reported anywhere in the world.

n 2016-17, 300 people died. H10N3 chicken-borne bird flu has a relatively less severe form and the risk of large-scale spread is very low. Many different types of avian influenza exist in China and some infect people sporadically, usually those who raise poultry. There have been no specific cases of human infection with bird flu since the H7N9 strain killed nearly 300 people during 2016–2017.

There are different forms of bird flu in China, with occasional cases of infecting humans.
