Arrest Warrant Issued Against Shashi Tharoor for Calling India a Hindu-Pakistan
New Delhi: Senior Congress leaders are stuck on calling India a “Hindu-Pakistan”. On Tuesday, a court in Kolkata issued a ‘Arrest Warrant’ in a case registered against Shashi Tharoor for ‘Hindu-Pakistan’ remarks.
Against Shashi Tharoor’s remarks, advocate Sumit Chaudhary filed a petition in Kolkata Magistrate Metropolitan Court in July. The petitioner, Chaudhary, alleged that Tharoor’s remarks caused shame. The intention was “to deliberately and maliciously defy religious sentiments”.

Shashi Tharoor was sued under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Offenses Act, 1971.
In his petition, Chaudhary said that Tharoor made a public statement that if the BJP is voted on in the 2019 general election, the party will rewrite the constitution and transform India into “Hindu Pakistan”. In the petition, Chaudhary mentioned that Tharoor also refused to apologize for his remarks.
In July last year, Shashi Tharoor had said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it will create a situation that will make India a Hindu Pakistan. While addressing the program in
Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor said that if the BJP comes to power again, it will write a new constitution in which there will be no respect for the rights of minorities in India like Pakistan .
