Gmail Finally Offers Customizable Swipe Actions on iOS

Google is making another important change in Gmail: one that will make it easier to get the job done in a hurry.

The search giant announced on Thursday that its Gmail app for iOS will be updated to add several customizable sliding actions: archive, delete, mark as read, mark as unread, postpone and move to [a different folder].

The feature is basically an extension of what has been available for Android since June 2018. Sliding actions, of course, have been available on iOS for a long time, but have not been customizable until today. Google says the feature will be released to all iOS users in the next 15 days, so do not worry if you do not see the new feature immediately.

This update is part of a greater productivity boost for Gmail that Google announced earlier this year. Google has gradually incorporated new features and small fixes to make the Gmail experience less cluttered and tedious, but apparently it has come at the expense of some of the most dedicated users of the email service.

Google is closing its Inbox by Gmail app in late March, which left its loyal fans quite upset earlier this month. The inbox was designed with productivity in mind and it was already a cleaner Gmail experience than the default application.

Some of the key features of the Inbox, such as automatically generated responses to simple messages, have already been converted into Gmail itself; However, Google has not yet put all the functions of the Inbox in Gmail, so the perfect official Gmail application does not exist yet.

With the declared commitment of Google to improve the Gmail application on the productivity front, I hope the application can please everyone in the near future.
