200 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to be made available to 190 countries under the covax initiative

United Nations: In order to make the Covid-19 vaccine available worldwide hassle-free, the global vaccine partnership initiative ‘Covax’ has arranged to buy 200 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. As part of this, Covax will buy 200 million vaccines made by Oxford University and AstraZeneca Company, for which it has tied up with vaccine formations Gavi, Serum Institute of India and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. 

Covax said on Friday that it has entered into agreements with companies and institutions producing Covid-19 vaccines worldwide at the request of 190 countries. The Covax initiative has been launched to rapidly provide coronavirus vaccines in all countries, rich or poor. Under this, 130 crore vaccines will be made available to 92 countries with weak and medium economy in 2021.

World Health Organization (WHO) director Tedros Adanom Gebreyes told journalists, “This is good news and a big breakthrough in global health.” Covax aims at 2021 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and regulatory bodies of various countries. To deliver 200 million safe and effective vaccines of recognized Kovid-19 worldwide. Under this campaign, countries will be provided with vaccines according to their population. Under this, vaccines will be given to the health workers of these countries first. After this, the elderly and the infected groups will be vaccinated. 

Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla said that his company has tied up to provide 100 million Novavax vaccines and 100 million AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccines to Covax. He said that the company would provide 90 million vaccines to Covax if needed. Poonawalla said that this initiative of Covax would help the world defeat Corona and would allow vaccines to reach people without any discrimination. Delivery of vaccines to Covax will begin in the first quarter of 2021.
