Pakistan: Colonels Inam ur Rahim who raised voice for missing people themselves ‘missing’, found in the custody of Ministry of Defense
Rawalpindi: Former colonel who raised voice for the release of missing people in Pakistan suddenly disappeared himself one day. When his case reached the court, the country’s Defense Ministry admitted that the retired colonel was in his custody. According to the information provided in the report published in the Pakistani media, the retired colonel taken into custody is Inam-ur-Rahim. Colonel Inam is also a lawyer. The case of his disappearance was heard in Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court.
During the hearing, officials of the Ministry of Defense admitted that Inam was in his custody. The representative of the Ministry of Defense told the court that he is being interrogated for taking Inam in custody. Inam’s lawyer protested this, saying that the Ministry of Defense or any organization related to it could not keep their client with them. The court summoned the Additional Attorney General to the court expressing his displeasure with the attitude of the government representatives. Retired Colonel Inam-ur-Rahim was appearing in the cases of missing people in the country.
According to reports, he was picked up from his house in Rawalpindi on 16 December. Inam’s son Hasnain Inam told that the bell of the house rang at twelve thirty on the night of 16 December. He opened the door. 8 to 10 armed men, dressed in black, forcibly entered the house and forced their father into the car and took them away. Hasnain said that at the same time these people threatened him that if he wrote a report of his father’s disappearance, the result would not be good for him either.
