National Cancer Awareness Day, because Information is Important

New Delhi: When there is unwanted growth of cells in a person’s body, cancer arises. There are more than 100 types of cancer worldwide. ‘National Cancer Awareness’ was started in India by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. According to him, this is the right time to make people aware of cancer in the country. Under his leadership, National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated on 7 November.

National Cancer Awareness Day was started on September 2014 by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. On this day, the early stage of cancer is diagnosed and patients are told how to avoid it. On this day people are encouraged to get free cancer check ups. Books for cancer information are distributed to the person coming for check up. The Kerala government has launched a scheme called Suhurtham, with the help of which cancer treatment is done in all the districts and medical colleges of Kerala.

India Angst Cancer website has the most information related to cancer. According to the data of that website, every 8 minutes in India a woman dies of cervical cancer. Out of 2 women who have been screened for breast cancer, only one woman is able to save doctors. Everyday 3500 people die in India due to consumption of tobacco. Consumption of tobacco promotes cancer. In 2018, 3,17,928 deaths in India were attributed to tobacco only. Every year, 11,57,294 cancer patients are registered in India. In 2018, a total of 7,84,821 people died of cancer. These figures also increase every year because people are not aware of this disease.
