America Needs India’s Help to Beat China: US Secretary of State
New Delhi: US Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan, who arrived in Delhi in the wake of a visit to India and Bhutan, said that the United States believes this is a unique opportunity to move forward together for the betterment of the Indo- Pacific region and the world. The opportunity is being expanded to increase the 2 + 2 dialogue to deal with the menace of terrorism and to maintain freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.
He said that from the South Pacific to the Indian Ocean, China’s development model has served to bring peace and prosperity to the entire region. China’s policies and actions have sought to remodel the Indo-Pacific to advance its own interests. He has sought India’s support to beat China, he says that at such a time we need a brainy fellow.

For this reason, the US-India partnership is very important. China is engaged in re-shaping Asia for its purposes. Leaders of both the United States and India recognize this. We have to play our part in realizing and failing this step.
Sullivan has come to visit Bhutan and India from 11 to 17 August. He is now in India after Bhutan. Peace in the Indo-Pacific region and the strengthening of US relations with both countries are the main objectives of his visit. He has met Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to discuss important issues like democratic values, economic development and rule of law between the two countries.
