7th Payments Commission: In some really good news for employees of the state government, the government of Karnataka has issued an official notice announcing a salary increase that will affect thousands of academics. The new salary scale will be according to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission. The measure will benefit the teaching faculties of government colleges, government-assisted colleges, bar associations and universities under the state’s Department of Higher Education. BangaloreMirror reported this on March 20, 2019: it cited an official notification from the government.

The maximum salary under the new pay scale of the seventh pay would be Rs 2.17 lakh. Teachers who earn Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000 will now get Rs 57,700. The maximum salary for teachers will be Rs 1.82 lakh. However, an assistant professor who used to get Rs 39,000 will not get Rs 68,900. The maximum payment for them will be Rs 2.05,000. On the other hand, an associate professor will now receive a salary between Rs 1.31,400 to Rs 2,17,100.

However, those who do not meet the minimum qualification requirement of the 7th Payments Commission established by the UGC will not obtain the salary increase. The salary increase will be applied to librarians, teachers, physical education teachers and equivalent cadres of the universities and colleges of the state government.

At the beginning of January of this year, the Ministry of Human Resources Development had announced the extension of the seventh payment commission for teachers and other academic staff of the state government / government assisted by technical institutions of grade level. The ministry also increased special assignments and assignments for teachers and academics, registrars, financial officers and exam drivers at universities and colleges on January 28. This included universities considered to be funded by central funds. The revised special subsidy per month for Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Director of PG College and Director of UG College was Rs 11,250, Rs 9,000, Rs 6,750 and Rs 4,500, respectively.
