The Dreaming Priest

Long ago there lived a priest who was extremely lazy and poor at the same time. I did not want to do any hard work, but I used to dream about being rich one day. He got his food asking for alms. One morning he got a pot of milk as part of the alms. He was extremely delighted and went home with the milk pot. He boiled the milk, drank a little and put the remaining milk in a pot. He added a light curd in the pot to turn the milk into curd. Then he went to sleep.

Soon he began to imagine the curd pot while he slept. He dreamed that if he could enrich himself in any way, all his miseries would disappear. His thoughts went to the pot of milk he had put to form curds. He dreamed in “In the morning the pot of milk would turn into a curd. I would beat the curd and make butter. I would heat the butter and make ghee. Then I’ll go to that market and sell that ghee, and I’ll earn some money. With that money, I’ll buy a chicken. The hen will lay May eggs that will hatch and there will be many chickens. These chickens, in turn, will lay hundreds of eggs and soon I will have a poultry farm of my own. ” He kept imagining.

“I will sell all the chickens of my birds, buy some cows and open a dairy. All the people of the town will buy me milk. I will be very rich and soon I will buy jewelry. The king will buy me all the jewels. I will be so rich that I can marry an exceptionally beautiful girl from a rich family. Soon I will have a handsome son. If he does some mischief, I will be very angry and, to give him a lesson, I will hit him with a big stick. “During this dream, he involuntarily picked up the stick next to his bed and thought he was hitting his son. He hit the pot, the pot of milk broke and he woke up from his daytime sleep.

Moral: there is no substitute for hard work. Dreams can not be fulfilled without hard work.
